Make a mint and bergamot shower gel

A simple formula for those who are just starting to work with surfactants.

In this series we are providing you with easy formulations and the post is without filler and fluff.

Today we are bringing a formula for a simple shower gel that is suitable for those who don’t have much experience with surfactants.

The main component is Plantapon SF which is a blend of surfactants (INCI: Sodium Cocoamphoacetate (and) Glycerin (and) Lauryl Glucoside (and) Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate (and) Sodium Lauryl Glucose Carboxylate). It is easy to use, you don’t need to worry about calculating or even understanding surfactants and their chemistry.

It is scented with peppermint water and bergamot oil to give you a refreshing shower experience but of course, you can use other scents and hydrosols of your choice.

You can make it more exciting by adding a small amount of soap colouring or micas.

IMPORTANT! Most sulfate-free surfactant products are thickened by the addition of gum(s). Here the addition of cocamidopropyl betaine and the reduction of pH will create a nice, honey-like viscosity.

If you can source it, feel free to include a chelator such as Sodium Phytate at 0.10% and reduce the water with the same amount.

HOW TO USE

Use it just like you would any other shower gel.
